Pray for Saint John's Monastery
We received word late last night that a
wild fire in Northern California has forced the evacuation of the
monastic brotherhood of Saint John the Wonderworker Monastery (OCA), in
Manton, California. Please pray for the safety of the monks, their
temple, buildings, and all their pets and farm animals. This terrible
season of drought and fire has seen the destruction of many homes
throughout the West and Southwest. Monasteries are important centers for
prayer and repentance, and much needed during these difficult times in
our nation's history. Please remember to pray that the Lord preserve and
protect our monasteries.
As a community of monks whose monastery sits right in the center of a large forest, we are only too aware of the dangers that can come from fire. We were spared from the devastation of a forest fire some years ago, where flames had come within one foot of our Saint John's chapel.
May the prayers of the Holy Virgin of the Burning Bush preserve our brother monastery from all fire and destruction, and may Saint John protect, by his holy intercession, the monastery named in his honor.
