Solitude
We are Liberated by Solitude
If we are honest with ourselves, we are all solitaries, for it is inevitable as humans. As individuals we meet God alone, and we die alone. Spiritual maturity requires inner solitude.
To be alone in solitude is to be emptied of all that is important to this world. In solitude we seek God above all else and discover our sinfulness, and are brought in silence before the presence of the living God. We are liberated by solitude.
It is through silence and solitude that we come to know God, and in silence and solitude we can know ourselves. It is in solitude that we find emptiness, and in our emptiness we find fullness in Christ.
With love in Christ,
Abbot Tryphon
