Photo of the Day:
Students from Pacific Lutheran University, and Seattle Pacific University's, Orthodox Christian Student Associations, joined the monks for the Sunday Liturgy, and
Trapeza, here at the Monastery. Abbot Tryphon is privileged to be a regular guest lecturer at both these fine universities, and celebrates Vespers, twice monthly, at SPU.

Scripture Readings for the Day:

1 Timothy 1:1-7
Greeting
1 Paul, an apostle of Jesus Christ, by the commandment of God our Savior and the Lord Jesus Christ, our hope,

2 To Timothy, a true son in the faith:

Grace, mercy, and peace from God our Father and Jesus Christ our Lord.
No Other Doctrine
3 As I urged you when I went into Macedonia—remain in Ephesus that you may charge some that they teach no other doctrine, 4 nor give heed to fables and endless genealogies, which cause disputes rather than godly edification which is in faith. 5 Now the purpose of the commandment is love from a pure heart, from a good conscience, and from sincere faith, 6 from which some, having strayed, have turned aside to idle talk, 7 desiring to be teachers of the law, understanding neither what they say nor the things which they affirm.

Luke 11:29-33
Seeking a Sign
29 And while the crowds were thickly gathered together, He began to say, “This is an evil generation. It seeks a sign, and no sign will be given to it except the sign of Jonah the prophet. 30 For as Jonah became a sign to the Ninevites, so also the Son of Man will be to this generation. 31 The queen of the South will rise up in the judgment with the men of this generation and condemn them, for she came from the ends of the earth to hear the wisdom of Solomon; and indeed a greater than Solomon is here. 32 The men of Nineveh will rise up in the judgment with this generation and condemn it, for they repented at the preaching of Jonah; and indeed a greater than Jonah is here.
The Lamp of the Body
33 “No one, when he has lit a lamp, puts it in a secret place or under a basket, but on a lampstand, that those who come in may see the light.

We thank all of you who have been donating to the Monastery through PayPal. Your generosity is greatly appreciated. Some of you have pledged, again through PayPal, an automatic monthly donation. Please, know how grateful we are for your help, during these very lean times.
With love in Christ,
Abbot Tryphon
